Permanently Temporary

Eight years ago, Keilecafe started on a vacant lot in Rotterdam-West.

We’ve never had the certainty to plan long-term, as we’ve only ever been granted one year at a time. This sense of impermanence has shaped the character of Keilecafe, making it the unique and ever-evolving place it is today. And now, after eight years, it’s time to invest in our space so we can continue.

For eight years, our terrace has been a gathering spot for Rotterdammers to enjoy the sun with music and good company. From outdoor cinema and blind dates to DJ sets, live music, mimosa brunches, and volleyball games—Keilecafe has been a place for connection and celebration.

But now, Keilecafe needs serious investment. Our electricity system needs an upgrade. The water supply requires improvements. Our fencing needs partial replacement and repairs. And there’s a long list of other tasks that have been postponed for too long but can no longer wait.
